The Park is Art

As home for major cultural institutions, this pastoral open-space park in the middle of a busy metropolitan community provides a backdrop for art and civic activities. The challenge was completed by relocating a major thoroughfare that bisected the property allowing uninterrupted views to the surrounding lakes. Extensive land sculpturing created a pastoral environment within the park, allowing smooth pedestrian flow and an abundant amount of various spaces used to celebrate the artistic and cultural heritage of the area. Frederick Halback* was recognized in White House ceremonies for the project’s excellence in environmental design.
