Project Description & Challenge

Marquis Latimer + Halback, Inc. recently updated the iconic environmentally-sensitive master plan of Ian McHarg for Amelia Island Plantation. Leading a team of specialty consultants, the community-owned properties were extensively evaluated. Members were provided numerous interactive workshops and preference surveys for the enhancement of improved community gathering spaces, trails, kayak launches and community meeting spaces for a $10 million improvement plan over 10 years.

These improvements honor the environmental legacy of McHarg while positioning the community for the next generation of enjoyment and interaction with nature. Improvements include expanded trail systems and trailhead, new community park & gathering center, expanded kayak and boating center, revitalized park system, improved beach access parks, and community signage.
