Expanding the Visitor Experience
The Pensacola Lighthouse & Maritime Museum has worked with ML+H in creating an overall master plan. The historic lighthouse, exhibitions and grounds have cemented the site as premier destination for visitors and students. The challenge is how to expand the grounds to accommodate future growth, enhance the experience of the site’s history, and accommodate the unique circulation needs of a military installation.
Our Solution
The master plan is organized around the historic forms and structures while accommodating a new entry building and gift shop, exhibition space, themed playground, food truck park, and event lawn. The entry experience and parking lot have been carefully laid out to maintain the natural feel of the site while improving visibility and connectivity to the lighthouse and beach.
